Update on mario game #15

Hey again.

What's up? Well for me, it's been relaxing. Much snow these days, you know. Everything is just white, white...

Anyhow, i have recently coded an GUI (Graphical User Interface, in other words: an window instead of a console) to the server. It uses the win32 API. Ah, yesterday i was up to about 3 am trying to make Enter key work on the goddamn window. Well, i gave up yesterday, but today i solved it. Everything is printing out normal now. Back to the client.
On the client, i have finished the star and the 1up powerups. Now all powerups is basically done. Next thing to do is to add the sound effects, i believe. I'll have to use SNES ones temporarly. I have also tuned the collision system (AGAIN...). Added some random functions (get mouse position), some random callbacks related to mouse, ondeath, respawn, etc.

Hi.

I remember paying the domain and webhosting on friday. Cliche still haven't "accepted" the payment. What? Oh well, i suppose it's because they are having a free day on saturday and sunday. But i waked up this morning, went to sm-mp.com... and it's still not up. They say on the website that their opening times are;

Monday 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-18:00
Tuesday - Friday 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:00 

Hm.
At the moment, it's 13:43. I also remember paying right after ordering. Bug? I don't know.

Update on mario game #13

Hi.

What's up? Well, from my side it's fine. I just happend to have a little headache now and then before sleeping. Otherwise it's great.

So what's up with the game? It's rollin' on. I work about 3-4 hours on it every day now. I do accomplish stuff these hours, and together in one week, it's alot!
I've now looked into an compression library that can compress game files - that would improve alot;
- Less space being used.
- Files more organized.
Well... that's basically the main positive sides of compresison. I'll probably use a compression class created by my good friend, Sam. In which i must point out he is a great helper.
Back to the game - in the beginning of this week i discovered a bug in the collision system (pfff... again, like 5 times now) and decided to recode the detection. Now it's more stable then ever and faster (it utilizes one loop for all the three collision detection (collision on ground, wall and "bumping" a cube), instead of one loop for every collision type).
I also added blocks - ground, question, brick and solid blocks to the game.

Speaking of sprites, and music - one dude contacted me for helping. Wazza, is his name. His brother is awesome at piano. And he's only played that for 1 year - and man, that is quick. He componated his own music, and i've played piano for 4 years without componing my own. (Well, once, but that was trashed). He is interested in delivering music for my game. Seems ok, i'm thinking of asking him to deliver some music, and we'll see. And i'll hear.

Hi.

Looks like i didn't do the star and 1-up mushroom afterall. I've been busy wiht so much else. Yesterday i also discovered another bug with the collision detection. Goddamnit. I've already fixed it 4 times now. Oh well, atleast it's fixed now. Network is going alright too.

In other news, Etherpad listened to all the critic, and decided to not shut down (seems like it? they removed the banner). How nice.

Update on mario game #10.

Yo again. Another update on my game.

My good friend sam helped me last week. In an instant, he discovered an error i have done - it was not good. I spent a whole day to change it back to a more efficient one. The network runs alot better now. It certainly feels like 5 times better, it gives a smoother feeling of other players. Can't wait to release it.


In other news, things are going good. I discovered that i could infact login to my "banned" SA:MP forum account. So ofcourse i went hyper and telled everyone.

In other other news, it's two days left of the current week. Two free days! That means i'll code as much as possible. I guess the star powerup will be done and maybe the 1-up mushroom. I still need to fix some bugs here and there tho.

Also, i heard that EtherPad is bought by Google and will be shut down sometime in March 2010. How pathetic. I really liked the service. I'm using it to keep my beta notes (guess what.. beta notes of the game).

Update 29/November/2009

Hi.

Sorry for not posting in a while. I've been busy with school and all. It's like, now, i am beginning to work hard on my studies. Err, as said previously, i am banned from the computer monday to thursday. I try to work as much as possible on the game. Unfortinately, i don't think it'll be done this year. No way, even if i work whole week. Well - let's see on the positive side, i'm atleast working on it.

I think i did some fireball syncage. I added a new Pawn function too, "OnPlayerFire". The fire flower is basically done now, only the star and 1up-mushroom is left. I'll probably code them next week. But i'll start the star now.

Just to say, i'm also eager for the final result. I just want to release the game. But ofcourse, i can't do that, work must be done.

Update on mario game #8

Hi.

Time for a blogpost. Right? Well. What should i say? I have been continuing working on my game.

- Tuned networking (again)
- Removed pickup rendering -> then send data to others
- Fixed the 100% CPU thing.
- Added fire mario sprites (no fireballs atm)
- Fixed the goddamn collision bug, which appeared when applying the 100% CPU fix.

I'll probably have the fire mario working by the end of this weekend.

Oh, and school is going alright. I had two tests this week, one in math which didn't went so well. The other one was spanish, and ofcourse, it was piss-easy.

The mario game.

What's with it? Yeah, well, i need to tell you one thing. I'm lazy. I have always been. Sometimes i start projects with full of energy, only to make the energy bar drop. I don't know. I'm just like that. Then suddently, sometime, somewhere, the energy comes back. Then i just want to code. I just want to do it. I wish i could just get the energy back sometime.

I'm just talking trash. Last week was absolutely crap. This one's better. I hope...

Just want to say, that i maybe won't be on the computer, simply because my mom heard about the "shitty grades" (??? it's not bad grades anyway, not an F). I'll wait to see tomorrow or today to see what dad thinks. I personally have no problems if they are temporarly shutting down the pc, i only have problems if they are gonna sell the pc.

Update on mario game #7.

Good evening.

I finally got assed to update the website. The front page menu now works, and all the sections too. Also the PHP seems to be working fine.

I installed a forum some minutes ago, feel free to browse it. But don't expect anything cool - it's just the standard "SMF just installed" forum. I'll be properly dividing the sections in the forum a nice day.

I always seem to do things, even when i say i won't.

Update on mario game #6.

Hiya.

So what's up? Nothing much here. Just wanted to give ya a quick overview what's been happening to the game the last three days;

- Tuned the scripting (code more organized)
- Added a mushroom
- Added a new callback: OnPlayerPickUpObject
- Fixed a new native: setBackgroundColor
- Tuned the collision detection system (...again)
- Added big mario sprites

That's about it. Today or tomorrow i'll probably add natives for 1) max screen width, 2) mario grow, 3) fire flower, 4) maybe enemies?

Update on mario game 5#.

Hi.

Ahh yes, another update on my mario game. Well what about it? I'll tell you,

- Tuned networking
- Bettered collisioning detection
- Tuned the jumping style to match SNES
- Added screen sliding
- Fixed some player 1 <-> 2 bugs
- Loads of other things

It's going pretty well. Me, karlip and heerlenking are gonna test together some day. Maybe we will put an video on youtube. Or maybe putting it on the website?

I'm thinking of adding mushrooms tomorrow (or today? it's 1 AM). Then fix some enemies and sound effects, pipes, server listing/browser, and ofcourse the website. And put up a nice forum. Then it'll be all done.

Windows Vista/7

Wow..

It all happened so quickly. It was just over a night. I didn't realised that when i got to bed, after hard-shutting down the computer, it would be broken. Never, ever, i would think that Vista would give up. Never. Well, maybe...


Joke, besides. My vista failed to live. It's dead now. I then got Windows 7, and installed it. So hereby, this is the first blogpost @ this site made with Windows 7. Happiness.

In other news, my mario game survived also. I just need to install the MSVC, and i'm all ready to go.

Update on mario game #4.

Oh happiness - i finally solved it!

Wait.. solved what? Well, it all started with a simple "format" (format pawn strings) native to pawn. My friend sam told me that i could use the "strformat" in amxstring.c for use in pawn script. Tried that, but it wasn't so good, specially because it blocked all code from that line onwards. I tried doing another format native, which i putted in my "natives.h" header. Now, that failed. Everything keep crashing and i tried to solve it, but whent nowhere. I was trying to solve it for 2 days - combining sam's printf / the original format / code from googled search. And, suddently, it worked! I finally cracked the big question i had in my mind, why it didn't work, what do that line do, etc. And the happiness - i finally solved it. Now format works as it should. Without any help. Well, maybe a little from sam... But, i still feel so proud of myself. Not to brag, but i do.

Update on mario game #3.

Hi.

Just wanted to tell you some updates i made to the mario game. I have added an running key, some more functions. Right now i am struggeling to make a format native work. It'll fix soon i believe.

In other news, i still need a webmaster to set up the website. Heerlenking did an logo for the game. I think it's great. Would be nice to be placed on the top left at the site. Something like wikipedia.

Update 13/October/2009

So.. long time no see dear reader.

Well, what can i say? It has been my birthday the 5th october. Pretty fun, got alot of cash. I also got a new monitor, it rocks. Samsung Syncmaster. Ah, what more can i write, i'm just shuffling my cards thinking what to write...

The school is all OK. Lots of tests and shit, but i'll make it. I think i'll go the programming way on the high school (i think? here in sweden we call it "gymnasiet"). Speaking of programming, i'm making a mario online multiplayer game. It's all doing well. I'm programming it in C++. I use the allegro, alpng, and raknet library. Coding everyday. Small steps everyday maybe, but in the end, it will be a giant step in my experience. I like that.

New website and mario game

Yo. Haven't writed much now. I sense no feeling to continue. If you are reading this, please, comment! I want to know that someone is reading.

I have created a mario game based on flash. Pretty good, but i think it's too clumsy with actionscript and it's incapability of files. I decided eventually to go for C++, allegro.
I'll be learning DirectX too, soon.

Oh and i'm thinking about launching an website over at pspleo.x10hosting.com. Right now i am busy, so no. I'm not doing it now.

Blog update 18/September/09

Yep, here we go again.

I just finished 5 days of hard work at my dad's pizza place. And i gotta say, he's living hard. Lots of sauses, salads, vegetables to do, pizzas, pommes frites, the fan to the pommes frites... only to name a few. To give a feeling, i'll be describing an standard call.

12:00. First call. Hamburger with pommes frites.
I start with turning on the oil. I start the grill to grill the hamburgers. I wait 5 min.
12:05.
I put a hand or two with pommes frites into the basket. I also put oil at the grill place, then a deep-freezed hamburger. I wait.
12:10. I put the pommes frites in the oil.
12:15.
I turn the hamburger in the following 5 min.
12:16. I discovered i forgot the deep-freezed bread. I quickly get it and put it in the pizza oven. I check on the pommes.
12:20. The pommes are done. I get in a bowl and put salt. Shake.
12:23. Hamburger done. I do an hamburger out of the bread and the meat and put it in a package. I put ketchup, dressing and some salad. I put pommes frites next to the hamburger. I almost forgot to turn the grill and oil heater.
12:30. Customer arrives. Pay and check.
Done.

That's how it's usually done i believe. My dad had his pizza place now in about 1 ½ year. Should take a rest...


In other news, i saw the DSONPSP was updated. Great stuff. Also life is going on well. My PSP, me and my cats are happily living together.

Blog update 14/September/09

Yeah, another blog! Lucky i got ass'd to do that...

Well, i just want to say that i won't blog so often. I have work to do. I mean, work. I'm practising at my dad's pizza place for 2 weeks. Ain't got much time but, meh, i'll try to do my best.

The server is currently locked. Something is wrong (i don't remember what), so i need to fix it.

Oh and guess what happened today - I went to the second hand shop in my town, looking for a watch to hang in my room. Found one for 40:- . Cheap.. but not cheap.. Oh well, better than nothing. And the thing that happened? I found an "Sanchwich Toaster"! Hell yeah! Finally no more toasting first, bread, cheese, microwave, then wait and then eat it. This thing rocks. It costed the same as the clock.

On other news, i was beginning to draw my wood gun. I can't finish it now tho. Maybe when i get time.

SA-MP Server, SMW

Hi. Just wanted to write a little about my server.
It's all going on awesome. I just got a free server from watkijkje! And he's so nice to me, i feel like i should give something back. I don't know what though.

DSONPSP v0.6

DSONPSP 0.6 is out! Awesomeness!

Well, atleast it actually loads the nds roms. But you have to wait a sload to time to load the 3d models etc. I tried new super mario bros and super mario 64 DS. Both loaded fine, but came up in 5 FPS. Can't wait for a newer version!

Blog update 03/Sep/2009

Yo, i am here now, got some things to tell.

Well, hey again, there was some time since last post.That's because i have many things to do in school and stuff. The life's just normal. What can i tell you, my dear reader?

Well, i finally started to continue scripting on the freeroam script. I am working on it everyday, adding new features etc. I made an dynamic player/server stat system, you just have to do AddPlayer/ServerStat and then it saves automatically. But it was a hellofa long way to get there.. First the mysql_store_result() didn't work for some reason and crashed the server. I changed plugin (G-sTyLeZzZ's to ADreNaLiNe-DJ), i also changed the sql hoster to db4free. Bit slow with the php stuff, but it's very fast on the plugin connection. Secondly, the querys and connections and everything didn't want to work, argh! Finally got it to work.

Eh, want an update on my PSP? Well yeah, i finally got gpSP to work (gameboy emulator by eXophase) with super mario advance, 2 and 4. For some reason Yoshi's Island lags alot on the SNES emulator, but not on the gameboy advance. The 3D effects are still there too. Oh well.

I also want to tell you that i just got a new deck of cards, so i finally can't just sit around like a fool. Uh.. i am an fool infront of the computer anyways.

Epic! DSONPSP, Hitlar video and GTA IV

Yeah! Time for another blogpost.

We'll start with DSONPSP then. What about it? Well, i saw one day after the release of beta 4, that it got released. I downloaded it straight away, but unfortinately it didn't run any of my .nds files. But i can't wait until it's fully working! Sweet dreams, New Super Mario Bros on PSP...

Now onto our next topic. You know the meme "Hitlar"? Well it is that hitlar is in a bunker, somewhere, with some dudes. They first point out a map, saying a problem, hitlar says "no problem", then the dudes say some very serious thing. Hitlar doesn't get happy, so he sends out everyone except 4-6 and then goes on a rage.
Well, it isn't so much fun without subtitles, but it is with self-made subtitles, for example.

26 August Round-Up

Hi. It's been a while since the last blog, so i figurated out i should post another one. Well here it is then.
I've been too lazy to do anything the latest days, i planned todo the Freeroam v2, but i couldn't bother with that. I planned to do a blog post which didn't happened. Ugh... think isn't happening so much now, it's probably because school is kicking in and stuff. I promised myself to work as hard as i can this year, and to get as good grades as possible.

On the other hand, life is pretty much the same as in summer. Same buds, same teachers, same school. The school scheme just suck tho. Oh well, heard rumors there will be a new one..

Short post here

Just wanted to blog something, so here it goes, again. I don't know what to say, but let's start with SA:MP then.
I have completed my house script, built in file managment, adding, etc. I'm thinking of uploading it so everyone has it. Wouldn't that be great? Oh and i haven't got any help for MySQL, so it freezed, that's why it's completed.
Now, i found my old pirate wars script file, i'm being interested to continue on it. The thing is i can't be bothered to do that. I'll get the interest on sometime.

Uhh, what more can i write...? I've just seen Air Crash Investigation (known as Mayday these days) on Youtube, it's cool indeed. Also i saw the movie "Alive", very good movie too, also scary when the plane is ripped apart in the middle and seats fly out. Chills.

IV:MP, School and a little bit of PSP

Yeah, time for another blog post.

So i got banned from IV:MP. I don't really care, but my main consurn is the relationship with jenksta. I mean, i don't want to be un-friend, but not either best friend. Neutral. Now, i helped him release the source by giving it out to some people. Seems like he didn't liked it, so he banned me, now he seems all angry and stuff. I'll have to wait and see. And he said he would keep me in the team as a tester or something, i mean, how the hell could i know that?! Oh well. To be really honest, i am a little sad, but it's not a big deal. It'll leave eventually.

Oh and school started last wednesday. Kinda fun to meet all my old classmates again. Tomorrow we are gonna take a fun pic of us all, and i have decided to be mario. Red shirt and blue pants, but no hat tho. Couldn't find. But it'll be fun anyways.

And about my PSP, it feels like i've waited 2-3 days for the NDS emulator, i need to say; i am so eager about it. I want NSMB for PSP.

PSP Again

So, last post of today, i am gonna write some about my PSP.

I like it. I mean, i REALLY like it. I have been searching for an Nintendo DS emulator for it, but the one i tried, DSeMU for PSP, crashed. I noticed today that someone had made another DS emulator for it; "DSONPSP". I tried it, and guess what, it worked! But the framerate is low, aproximately 1 FPS (Frames Per Second). But i think it's great for second release. Only some more work, make it running stable and good fps (would be happy with 20-25fps for NSMB). Can actually wait a week or 2 for a better version.

Script and MySQL

Just finished version 1 of my RPG script, it contains house system. Only that. Thought of adding MySQL, so i tried adding it, but duh. It was a long time since i wrote a mysql script. So i thought of Pghpunkid, he had helped me on MySQL thing before. But, i couldn't contact him through IRC (permanently banned from irc.sa-mp.com)and not forum either (banned there too). TheAlpha said that he hangs around in PTPM server (TCG) so i checked there and found him. Sent him a PM. Fix't.

What the problem actually is that, the houses is not using IDs (unlike players, where their id is Username). So how can i get the cost, x, y, z etc? I dont want to have ID - too complicated. I have thought of looping throu the table, googled, googled more, couldn't find the answer. So that's the problem.

Scripting, random stuff

Just wakened up. I thought that i would make a short blog post, so here it goes.

Well, today it's about the RPG script i am creating. It goes along pretty well i think, it feels good to have that scripting status back on. Maybe i should post some scripting snippets while writing it anyways?

My clan, SA:MP and my PSP

Well yeah, i have been thinking about my clan. I haven't done alot (but no disrespecting for that, unlike other projects), but i think i'll do some more. I really think i should make some new training map. The current one sucks. What about different places?

Ahh.. i feel like i want to go back to SA:MP and start scripting again. It was a long time since i did that (i think the start of '09?), so yeah. I want to map a city again, script houses, waste time on a script, have fun etc.

Anyhow, alittle about the clan. It feels like the clan is so inactive (but it isn't, thanks to you lordician/disturbed!) that i feel like i must do something. And about the clan forums, i don't know about that one, why should we have an forum anyways? Why not simply an email adress? (k4l-apply@gmx.com?)

Oh well. I'm lucky i still have my GTA SA left in my computer. I was nearly ereasing it when i got banned from the SA:MP forums. One thing that surprised me yesterday was that the ENBSeries - "shiny shiny cars" mod - worked on 0.3. Also some car mods still worked, such as GTA IV nrg, gta iv taxi, comet, infernus etc. Oh also the GTA IV HUD.

And about my PSP. I have now used it for about 2 weeks. I love it. What? What games? Well i have Burnout, SNES and Nintendo 64 emulator, GTA - both Vice city stories and Liberty city stories. And ridge racer, bit boring but awesome graphics. OH, and manhunt 2 too! Spooky, gruesome game but alot of fun. That and burnout is the best games.
I started to code for my psp on friday. I wrote a neat little program that would display the "Awesome" picture to the size of the PSP's screen. Success. I don't know what to do next tho.

My thoughts on SA-MP and 0.3

...i think that it's really cool. I like the scoreboard but not so much of the chatbox texture. Should have been more transparent. I also liked the fact that vehicle damage was syncronized. The drunk effect was a cool implent too.

What i noticed most was that, when there were about 400 players in Las Venturas/Los Santos, it really felt like the city was alive. I mean, you could drive around and meet 2-3 guys on the way driving somewhere. Really awesome.

I'm looking forward to the final release, then i'll start scripting a server. Good old times...
